Analysis of damage mapping, in a partially constructed decline was utilised to was first used to validate numerical modelling results for a highly anisotropic weak rock mass. In order to provide recommendations for appropriate ground support systems, StopeX’s ground support module was used for implicit ground support analysis understanding the loading and deformation along the decline. and highlighting the benefits of utilising deformable ground support for this scenario.

Inclusion of anisotropy was critical in understanding damage locations along the decline. IUCM in StopeX was able to reproduce realistic deformation in the appropriate locations, matching to damage mapping undertaken.
